Men's Celtic Promise Rings
promise ring

The example on right is one of our relief designs using a lordswsh font lettering inside with unique Celtic knot made of 14k white gold. Our men's and women’s classic Celtic designs are from the Celtic period of 5th century art through the 19th century modern culture in Ireland. Typically wider and thicker but comfort fit the inside to feel just right. We make sure our rings are made to last for years of wear by deeply engraving fonts and motifs. These are important things to consider when making a Celtic ring band purchase.

Celtic gold & silver jewelry has aroused a sense of admiration and desire in those that behold it. For centuries it is little wonder that this is the case, given the immense beauty of the traditional Celtic jewelry and its design intricacies. It may also show some preternatural connection to our forefathers, for there are few people who can claim some European ancestry that cannot also claim a connection to the great Celtic people...

History

Celtic people have a long and proud history. At one time, the Celts occupied a vast area, spreading from eastern and central Europe through to the British Isles where the earliest examples of Celtic gold & silver promise ring jewelry can be found. However, as other civilizations such as the Romans rose in power and encroached on their territory, lifestyle and traditions, the Celts settled in more remote areas of Europe where they could continue to thrive and continued to produce Celtic promise ring jewelry. Many of the greatest known works of Celtic gold & silver promise ring jewelry and artistry came from these cultural bastions, based to this day in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and Cornwall in southern England. There is a great connection between these areas as Scottish Celtic jewelry and Irish Celtic gold & silver promise ring jewelry designs are very similar. Both Irish Celtic jewelry and Scottish Celtic gold & silver jewelry have enjoyed a huge resurgence in their homelands, as people discover their cultural traditions. It is upon these grand Celtic traditions that Utah Gold & Silver Celtic promise rings and wedding bands company offers you fine Celtic gold & silver promise ring jewelry at low prices.

It has been known since medieval times that the Celtic weave and knot pattern ring when worn as a promise ring is most often a prelude to a successful, long and happily lived relationship. Celtic men and women donned themselves with beautifully carved silver, gold or bronze finger rings, necklaces (known as torcs) and anklets to give themselves an even more impressive appearance to be admired and by others. At that time in Celtic history, the wearing of elaborate jewelry symbolized a more civilized culture than in many parts of Europe. Often more civilized than the tribes they would seek to conquer. We also make rings for friendship and even company logo jewelry. Our goal is your complete satisfaction using our traditional craftsmanship towards high quality-low cost custom gold and silver jewelry.

Celtic Religious History

Who were the Druids?

No pre-Christian system of religious belief seems more mysterious to modern people than the ancient celts and their druids. As priests of the Celtic religion, the druids had many duties related to annual festivals surrounding the agricultural cycle. Four of the most important celebrations included: Imbolc, the feast of renewal and purification celebrated on February 1st and dedicated to the Pagan goddess Brigit(who, with the advent of Christianity, became known as Saint Brigit); as Beltaine, celebrated on May 1st with prayers for bountiful crops in the face of unpredictable northern weather; Lugnasad, festival of fertility or first fruits celebrated August 1st. As for the fourth festival, not many know that the celebration of Halloween on October 31st is a perpetuation of a two thousand year old annual religious festival of the Celts called Samain. Dedicated to all the gods and denizens of the Celtic otherworld, it commemorated the creation of the world when chaos was transformed into order.

On that night various supernatural entities, including the spirits of the ancestral dead, where believed to wander among the living, creating great danger. It was customary to put food outside dwellings to appease related but not necessarily friendly spirits who were thought to have the desire to sit once again at the family hearth with their living descendants. This important occasion dedicated to all the Celtic gods and ancestral spirits was eventually renamed All Hallows Eve in adjusting to early Christian beliefs.

Just what was a Druid?

Druids were learned priests of the ancient Celts. Julius Caesar wrote that they officiate at the work of the gods, regulate public and private sacrifices and give rulings on all religious questions. Large numbers of young men flocked to them for instruction and they are held in great honor by the people. They act as judges in practically all disputes wether between tribes or individuals. Druids were also considered to be natural scientists. Cicero credited them with having a great knowledge of physics and astronomy. From Pliny we know that the Druids are responsible for preserving the medical knowledge of their people. They were thus teachers, healers, judges, poets, and priests. Like modern clergy Druids were exempt from paying taxes and military services. The remarkably preserved body of a two thousand year old Celt known to archeology as Lindow man was recently found in a peat bog near Manchester, England. It is thought to be the remains of a Druid in part because of the body's well manicured, unblemished hands. Even socially important, non-laboring Celtic bards would show callouses from years of playing musical instruments, in the hands of Celtic aristocrats would show the affects of riding chariots, fighting, and hunting. The Druids were known only to work with their minds.
